FERPA Compliance

Below describes our provision for compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

The student records policy of OrgSync, Inc. is governed by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). No one will have access to nor will the company disclose any information from a student educational record. OrgSync complies with the FERPA ruling, as a “school official with legitimate educational interests,” and can and ought to be listed as such in an institution’s Annual Notification of FERPA. Because OrgSync complies with the third-party release rules stipulated under FERPA, personally identifiable information may be released to OrgSync.

OrgSync considers the privacy and security of data the highest priority for our campus partners and will not release data to any party other than appropriate officials at an institution. Data released to OrgSync is the property of the institution and under the direct control of that institution so any data requests to OrgSync will be directed to the appropriate institution officials.

Students are not required to provide educational content in order to participate in OrgSync. Educational records kept on students in OrgSync may include:

  • Personal or biographical data as gathered through the registration process
  • Course and event enrollments, grades, and club involvement

These educational records are under the direct supervision and coordination of the campus administrators. A student who wishes to review any of his/her records may do so by contacting his/her campus administrator with a formal request for a specific set of records.

OrgSync, Inc. may use student directory information for the internal functioning of the OrgSync products (i.e., using student ID numbers for the card swipe functionality of the system). Generally directory information includes the following, though each institution defines its own directory information:

  • Name, Grade, and Gender
  • Participating in officially recognized activities, including sports, meetings, and club events
  • Geographical location
  • Registered email and mailing address
  • Awards received and work experience reported
  • Dates of use of the service
  • The most recent educational institution attended
